Egadi Islands’ Archipelago is located at the western end of Sicily, a few miles from Trapani, and it includes the islands of Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo, the islet of Formica and the rock of Maraone. The Egadi Islands set in beautiful crystalline waters, and host a rich and varied marine flora and fauna.

The natural beauties that characterize the waters of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo also extend to the mainland. In fact, for nature lovers, Egadi Islands show a rich vegetation where there are various endemic plants with medicinal properties. In order to preserve this natural beauties, It was established the Protected Marine Area (AMP) of the Egadi Islands, the largest marine reserve in Europe.

FAVIGNANA

 

Favignana, called "the butterfly of the Egadi Islands" for its shape, offers numerous beaches and caves. It is the perfect destination for those love clear and turquoise waters and nature. The coast offers different kind of locations: sandy beaches such as Lido Burrone and the Calamoni or suggestive sandy and pebbly coves located as Punta Lunga, Preveto, the Stacks (Faraglioni) and Punta Sottile areas, where admire breathtaking sunsets. There are numerous areas perfect for snorkeling, as the famous Cala Rossa. There are also typically rocky areas for those who love diving, such as Grotta Perciata or Punta Fanfalo. Not to be missed are the sea caves, accessible by boat, such as the Cave of Sighs.

LEVANZO

 

Levanzo offers suggestive beaches of pebbles and sand, located along the path that leads to the Faraglione (Sea Stack). In the southeast part of the island, visitors will be able to appreciate and enjoy the beautiful waters of two coves, reachable from both land and sea: Cala Fredda, characterized by a pebble beach and a comfortable slide, and the wildest Cala Minnola. For diving lovers, Levanzo offers a very tempting archaeological-underwater itinerary: between 27 and 30 meters deep between Cala Minnola and Punta Altarella there are the remains of a Roman wreck, about fifty wine amphorae and fragments of ceramic pottery black paint dating back to I century B.C.

MARETTIMO

 

Marettimo is the wildest and most untouched of the Egadi Islands, preserving a very precious natural heritage, an ideal habitat for rare and almost unique Mediterranean species. This wealth makes it an unmissable destination for all nature and outdoor lovers. Marettimo is rich in caves, emerged and submerged. The sea caves are real masterpieces created by the expert hands of the nature, such as the “Grotta del Tuono”, famous for its stalactites and stalagmites, or the “Grotta del Cammello”. There are also many small and wonderful bays of pebbles accessible by boat. Marettimo also offers unmissable experiences for diving enthusiasts.
